A Trusted Resource for Your Clients' Asset Protection Needs.
Co-Counsel & Referral Relationships Welcome
Jim Fletcher works with attorneys across Georgia and nationally who need a dedicated asset protection and estate planning resource for their clients. Whether you are a general practitioner, a business attorney, a family law attorney, or a litigator whose client needs creditor protection counsel, Jim welcomes co-counsel arrangements and direct referrals.
Referring attorneys can expect clear communication, prompt follow-through, and a practice focused exclusively on estate planning and asset protection — so your client receives focused, sophisticated counsel without competing priorities.
Areas of Focus
What Jim Handles for Referred Clients.
Jim's practice is concentrated in estate planning and asset protection. Referrals are most appropriate when a client needs one or more of the following:
Asset Protection Planning
Coordinated strategies using LLCs, limited partnerships, domestic asset protection trusts, and offshore structures to shield client wealth from future creditor claims.
Offshore Trust Structures
Cook Islands and Nevis trust and LLC planning for clients with significant assets who require the strongest available creditor protection under international law.
Domestic Asset Protection Trusts
Self-settled spendthrift trusts in favorable domestic jurisdictions for clients seeking U.S.-based creditor protection without the complexity of offshore planning.
Comprehensive Estate Planning
Wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives — coordinated with asset protection strategies where appropriate.
Advanced Estate Planning Strategies
SLATs, IDGTs, GRATs, QPRTs, dynasty trusts, charitable planning, and business succession structures for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families.
Business Entity Planning
Entity selection, ownership structuring, and operating agreement drafting designed to integrate with a client's broader asset protection and estate plan.
Ideal Referral Profile
Clients Jim Is Best Positioned to Help.
Referrals are most productive when the client fits one or more of these profiles. Jim works with clients throughout Georgia and accepts referrals from attorneys nationwide for matters within his areas of focus.
High-Net-Worth Individuals & Families
Clients with significant accumulated wealth — real estate, business interests, investment portfolios, or retirement assets — who want to protect what they have built.
Business Owners & Entrepreneurs
Owners of closely held businesses, professional practices, or real estate portfolios who face personal liability exposure and need coordinated business and personal planning.
Professionals with Liability Exposure
Physicians, surgeons, attorneys, accountants, engineers, and other licensed professionals whose personal assets may be at risk from professional liability claims.
Clients Anticipating or Facing Litigation
Clients who have received a demand letter, been served with a lawsuit, or have reason to anticipate future claims — and who need an honest assessment of their planning options.
How Referrals Work
A Straightforward Process for Referring Counsel.
Make the Introduction
Contact Jim directly by phone or through the referral form below. Provide a brief summary of the client's situation and what they are hoping to accomplish. Jim will respond promptly.
Initial Client Consultation
Jim meets with the referred client — in person in Atlanta or by video conference — to assess their situation, explain available strategies, and determine whether representation is appropriate.
Engagement & Communication
If the client engages Jim, referring counsel will be kept informed of the matter's progress. Jim is available to consult with referring attorneys throughout the engagement.
Fee Arrangements
Jim is open to discussing referral fee arrangements consistent with applicable Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct, including Rule 1.5(e), where the referring attorney remains involved in the representation or the client consents to the arrangement in writing.
Fee Arrangements
Referral Fees & Co-Counsel Arrangements.
Jim welcomes co-counsel arrangements and referral fee discussions with referring attorneys. Any referral fee arrangement will comply with Georgia Rule of Professional Conduct 1.5(e), which requires that the total fee be reasonable, that the client be informed of and consent to the arrangement in writing, and that the referring attorney either assume joint responsibility for the representation or the fee division be proportional to services rendered.
If you prefer a straightforward referral without a fee arrangement, Jim is equally glad to receive the introduction. The priority is ensuring your client receives the focused, sophisticated counsel their situation requires.
